MotorStorm: Pacific Rift getting patch

This will be the last post we make before the site redesign goes into effect. Are you excited?

Our site isn't the only thing getting patched. No, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift will also be getting some post-release bug fixin' fun. According to the PlayStation.Blog, the patch will arrive soon and will include the following features:

Restrictions to the copying of Saved Data have been removed. This will make it possible for Saved Data to be backed up and then restored to the User Account it was created under (whether that's on the same PLAYSTATION 3 or not).*
Changes to the way the game handles data. These changes will help to prevent Saved Data corruption.
Visual notification of critical save progress has been added. A 'MotorStorm Helmet' icon will be displayed on-screen to warn users that critical data is being saved. This is in addition to the HDD Access light which currently flashes while the game makes a critical save.
The glitch which enables a player to exploit the Boost system has been removed. The development team are working to identify which times have been achieved using this glitch; Action will be taken to ensure that the Leaderboards become genuinely competitive again.
Time Attack times and Rank information will update correctly for all players. Any pending Time Attack times will begin to filter through systematically and the online Ranks should display correctly once the update is released.
Additional fixes and improvements to gameplay. Many thanks for your feedback on these and other issues so far; we are still investigating the other issues that have been brought to our attention.

Good to hear about the saved game restrictions being lifted. Now can they fix them for Rock Band and Rock Band 2?

If you happen to have your PS3 die on you and get a replacement, you lose your RB/RB2 progress because the PS3 will not let you copy the save games to a backup.

As long as the quality and quantity of ps3 articles doesn't diminish, let change come:)

I for one am excited! Played the game to death, just left the 4 player trophy to get Platinum. Hope the patch fixes the ATV which is crap as it is right now. And hope Evolution Studios will release some DLC for extra tracks soon.

First LBP and now Motorstorm its a pitty COD5 isnt patched -.- im unable to connect to freinds, partys end after each match, annoying "under the Map" Glitches, Automatchmaking and joining a Ending game...ON THE LOOSING TEAM -.- lol its a good thing killzone is about 30days away (which is too long imo) might just get cod4 back...

technology is loaded with glitches especially on newer things....sorry you weren't born 100 years from now

btw, under the map glitches are gone....

ps. Try not to flip out when you realize you'll need patches for killzone 2 as well

Well, if its any consolation, the under the map glitches are fixed :P

They've been fixed for about 2 weeks now. And I dont know about you, but I've never experienced any of those problems, along with a bunch of other people I know. WaW runs nearly flawlessly for us.

That being said, it might just be your internet connection or something

Im not saying killzone is gonna be flawless you have me all wrong im saying CODW@W bugs are worse than cod4 (when that was new too) and it doesnt only happen to me, also my freinds, my clan and some family. yeah i know now under the maps glitches are fixed but that doesnt change anything IMO, and remeber...thats IN MY OPINION

Hope the new site doesn't force Xbox 360 articles down my throat.

Thats good too. I mean, now if you, say, buy an Xbox 360 and get a game for that, you can write articles too! I like what is going on, but I guess I just read wrong about how it was all going to be on the newer site, and you'd have to filter it out.

Either way, I'm sure you guys are going to do just fine on it.

At least with Japanese games you don't have to worry about patches. Odd how the Japanese are able to make something right on the first even though it may take some time unlike all of the other(ahem) nationalities that are involved in game development. Japan FTW!!!

While PS3 Fanboy certainly worked well the way it did, I do think the new design looks a lot better. On this side of things, the new design really makes things a lot easier for us.

PSP Fanboy is still around. It's taking the server a little bit of time to process all the PSP stuff. It'll be back up soon.

I'm pleased they have fixed the boost 'glitch', which was one of the reasons I stopped playing this online. I shall give it another go now, or at least when I'm done with Resistance 2.

Why is everybody raising arms about the site change?

All they did was combine PS3 and Xbox 360 Fanboy with Joystiq... it looks better and it's more efficient. I found it kind of odd that the same articles and news hits were posted on two completely different sites.

In reality nothing really changed. Calm down guys.

Thankgod! I sent like 10 e-mails about the game's problem... I hope they make the gameplay better and the game easier cause on rand 6 and 7 it gets so hard, I can't even get bronze on them... well, here's a hope.

Of course they patch away the restricted saves about a week after I upgraded my PS3's hard drive. I had to start the game all over again because I couldn't put the save on a flash drive. :(
